OnTrac Easytrac Compact Part-Turn Actuators: EME/EOE Lineup with Smartrac and Cloudtrac

source:original    date:2026-10-07

If Multitrac is OnTrac's workhorse platform, Easytrac is its compact champion: a compact part-turn electric actuator with high-accuracy output, available in on/off (EOE) and modulating (EME) configurations plus an explosion-proof version, with a rich option set including a sophisticated control head with a colour LCD screen and non-intrusive IR connectivity. Torque spans 50-3,000 Nm, with a Full-Turn version up to 50 Nm and thrust up to 6,000 N. Around the hardware sit two digital tools — Smartrac (PC setup/diagnostics software with engineer-level access) and Cloudtrac (a permanent QR code on every actuator giving instant access to its own manuals, datasheets and wiring diagram) — plus five serial communication options (Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profibus DP/PA, Foundation Fieldbus, HART). Data compiled from the OnTrac official website.

1. Easytrac: EME vs EOE

  • EME (Easytrac Modulating Electric) = modulating control;
  • EOE (Easytrac On/Off Electric) = on/off control;
  • Three output forms: standard part-turn (up to 3,000 Nm), Full-Turn version (up to 50 Nm), and thrust version (up to 6,000 N);
  • Explosion-proof version available; optional control head with colour LCD screen and non-intrusive infrared (IR) setup.

2. Easytrac model lineup (official data)

ModelTorqueTimePower (two columns per source)
EME/EOE 5050 Nm11-22 s40 W / 20 W
EME/EOE 100100 Nm11-34 s100 W / 40 W
EME/EOE 200200 Nm22-34 s40 W / 100 W
EME/EOE 400400 Nm29-43 s150 W / 90 W
EME/EOE 600600 Nm29-43 s180 W / 140 W
EME/EOE 800800 Nm57-62 s150 W / 140 W
EME/EOE 10001,000 Nm57-62 s150 W / 140 W
EOE 20002,000 Nm102 s200 W
EOE 30003,000 Nm102 s250 W

Note: EME = modulating, EOE = on/off; the 2000 and 3000 sizes are on/off only; both power columns are transcribed as printed on the official site.

The official site also provides cut-away, front-panel, controls and infrared-setup illustrations, emphasising the actuator's "high accuracy output".

3. Smartrac: engineer-level setup on a PC

Smartrac is OnTrac's PC-based system for digitally communicating directly with the actuators, giving engineer-level access to all settings and data the actuator contains. It requires a standard PC (Windows 10 or above) and a dedicated RS485 cable. Five feature groups:

  • Settings: actuator settings can be saved, uploaded or downloaded to the actuator;
  • Ports: serial communication ports can be configured and allocated;
  • Operate: run the actuator to set running times, valve positions and stroke, and facilitate fault finding;
  • Configure: parameters include control modes, analogue settings, indications, speed and torque, limit switches and ports;
  • Diagnosis: comprehensive alarm and failure logs and historic data logs are all accessible.

4. Cloudtrac: one QR code per actuator, lifetime access

Every Ontrac actuator comes with a permanent QR code attached. Scanning it connects you to the Ontrac Cloud, which holds that specific actuator's technical details and parameters — no special tools or proprietary software needed. You can download instructions, datasheets and the actuator-specific wiring diagram. For setup, commissioning and fault finding this saves considerable time and ensures the right connections are made — lost information is a thing of the past. The official demo (MOE708, SN 78114T1406697) shows the cloud record: product type, serial number, power supply AC380V, duty mode S2, speed 92 rpm, max switch-off torque 100 Nm, input signal 24VDC, output signal 4-20mA, bus protocol Profibus, and more.

5. Common options: five serial protocols plus power interfaces

Serial communications are available through an optional communications board for both Multitrac and Easytrac actuators:

ProtocolKey specifications
Modbus RTUUp to 38.4 kbit/s (factory default 9.6 kbit/s, max 1.5 km between nodes); master/slave query-response polling with CRC
Modbus TCP (Ethernet)Standard RJ45 interface; remote monitoring and parameter configuration
Profibus DP / PADP up to 1.5 Mbit/s; PA 31.25 kbit/s; active bus termination fitted; RS485 Type A connections
Foundation FieldbusDedicated card for 31.25 kbit/s fieldbus
HARTWorks over conventional 4-20 mA wiring

Two field-mounted universal items round out the range: a Universal 24VDC power supply and a universal control interface (110/220V AC to 24V DC) — easing on-site power and signal matching.

Summary

  • Three Easytrac numbers: torque 50-3,000 Nm, explosion-proof version available, colour-LCD control head with non-intrusive IR setup; EME modulating / EOE on-off, with the 2000 and 3000 sizes on-off only;
  • Two layers of commissioning tools: deep setup with Smartrac (RS485 direct; settings/ports/operate/configure/diagnose), everyday lookups via Cloudtrac — the actuator-specific wiring diagram is one scan away;
  • Five protocol choices: Modbus RTU (default 9.6k, up to 1.5 km), Modbus TCP, Profibus DP/PA (1.5 Mbit/s), Foundation Fieldbus (31.25 kbit/s), and HART over conventional 4-20 mA wiring.
